Cocoa merchants (Gh) Ltd (CML) is a limited liability company registered under the Ghana Companies Code 1963 (Act 179) and was incorporated on July 20, 1998, under the laws of Ghana following the liberalization of the internal marketing of cocoa in Ghana (which allowed private companies into the internal marketing of cocoa). The company is authorized to deal in the purchase of cocoa, coffee, cashew nuts and Shea butter. The core business of the company is marketing, handling, packaging and warehousing of these agricultural commodities.
Our vision is to become the most preferred partner in the supply of the best of Ghana premium cocoa beans onto the world market. Most preferred means our premium beans must be the most preferred choice for premium brand chocolate producers’ world over. It also means being recognized for giving the customer value for his money and developing a leadership position in all our markets.
The day-to-day administration is vested in the Managing Director, Financial controller and the Operations Manager. Also assisting to ensure the smooth running of CML includes;Audit Manager, Finance Manager, Deputy Finance Managers and Account Officers, Senior Administrative Manager, Secretary and Office Assistants. We also have the Regional and District Managers, Statistical Officer, Port Coordinator and Port Officers, Scale Mechanics and Depot Keepers.

HARVESTING
Harvesting is triggered by rainfall, and ripe pods are ready for harvesting by hand in roughly 5 months later from the flower stage.
FERMENTATION
The fresh cocoa beans are scooped with the hands from the broken pods and heaped on a mat of clean banana leaves and then covered with additional leaves.
